PlayStation went on the shelves.
And 1995 also saw the trial of American
pro footballer OJ Simpson’s trial — for the
murder of his wife Nicole and her friend
Ronald Goodman—end with his acquittal.
Michael Schumacher established his
dominance of Formula One with his second
cham- pionship in a row.
Except he wasn’t driving for Ferrari —he
was driving for Benetton!
And of course it was the year Blackburn
Rovers won the Premiership thank to
the millions ploughed into the club Jack
Walker.
NEWS: An earthquake struck in Japan in the
city of Kobe killing about 200 people
and injuring more than 13,000. It was
the biggest measured to hit the country
for 47 years.
Ten people were convicted from the 1993 bombing of the World
Trade Center in New York city, which left six people dead and
thousands injured.
Microsoft release Windows 95 the most successful operating
system ever produced. It earned the company billions.
The Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma
City was destroyed when a truck
bomb exploded in front of it - killing 168.
This was the most significant act of
terrorism on American soil until 9/11
causing an estimated $652 millon worth
of damage to the building and the
surrounding properties.
SPORT:Blackburn win the
Premier League for the
first time in their history
despite losing at Anfield
on the last day of the
season. Two individuals
also picked up awards
that season from the club—Alan Shearer for PFA Player
of the Year and Kenny Dalglish picked up the Manager
of the Year award.
AFC Ajax win the Champions League beating Italian giants
AC Milan 1-0 at the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna.
This made them the fourth most successful club in Eurpean
competition, with three European Cups and a
Champions League.
Michael Schumacher wins the Formula
One Drivers Championship of Benetton
for the second year in a row defeating
Damon Hill by 33 points. Benetton
also won the constructors
champ- ionship.
MUSIC:Oasis had three songs from
their album What’s The Story?
Morning Glory in the top 40 of
the year chart.
Wonderwall was their best
selling single getting to number
two in the charts.
Michael Jackson picked up an MTV
Europe music award which was one
of his two EMAs that were won that
year.
Dancehall continued to expand it’s
foothold in the music industry. Shaggy
released a single Bombastic it sold
over one million copies in the US alone
and it spent a week on top of the
US R&B Chart.
